Graphic Design for the Daily Collegian Newspaper
January 2019 - May 2019
The Daily Collegian is a student-run and produced newspaper and website, independently published at Pennsylvania State University. I was a member of the Creative Team underneath the business division, starting out as a Creative Trainee in January 2019 and then moving on to become a full Creative Representative in May 2019 until December 2019. As a trainee I learning basic Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills, how the creative department contributes to the newspaper, the brand and image the Daily Collegian develops and worked on practice graphics.
Newspaper Front Cover Designs
As a Creative Representative I created four newspaper covers that were featured in Fall 2019 editions, all of them being Special Edition Covers related to holidays or a certain theme.
Halloween Edition Project
I created all the graphics used for the Collegian Spooky Edition including the front cover and social media graphics for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Other Works - Print and Digital
Aside from social media graphics and newspaper front covers I created both print and digital graphics for corresponding articles printed in the newspaper and posted on the website. I also designed marketing material for the company such as flyers targeted towards attracting local businesses to purchase print ad space in special edition newspapers to generate revenue.
I created this graphic of diverse students in a classroom for an article published about demographics in Penn State classroom. It was featured as the newspaper’s front cover story in Fall 2019.
